GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Responsible technical work performing a variety of advanced computer operations using the geographic information system (GIS), coordinate geometry (COGO) and other specialized computer software. Updates and maintains various county mapping systems using Arc/Info Workstation, ArcGIS 8.x, ArcGIS 9.x, and extensions. Enters data according to established procedures, performs quality control and monitors data accuracy, and performs customer service by assisting the public and other staff with inquiries and the reproduction of maps and other related documents.

QUALIFICATIONS: Must know and be able to use various personal computers and GIS, including coordinate geometry (COGO) and relational database or spreadsheet programs. Must have knowledge of the mathematical calculations used for coordinate geometry entry of subdivision plats, lots, and parcels. Must have knowledge of map reproduction procedures and techniques. Must be able to perform related research, investigate, experiment, detect, inspect, verify, and recommend solutions. Must have experience in the reading and interpretation of land/legal descriptions, maps, and survey techniques.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Must be a high school graduate or possess an acceptable equivalency certificate. Must have a minimum of two years experience in the use and procedures of GIS using Arc/Info Workstation, ArcGIS 8.x, ArcGIS 9.x, and extensions. Applicants will be tested on ability to competently use Arc/Info Workstation, ArcGIS 8.x, ArcGIS 9.x, and extensions.
